Predicting what you can quarry...

This is the fourth element of our Quarry Support service.

Knowing what rock is in the ground and where, is vital to any quarry operation. In our experience, most quarries have a limited understanding of this and can suffer from a lack of exploration drilling to confirm rock structures, quality and type.

This can be compensated for to a large degree by effective face mapping and updating of the geological model concurrently with the geotechnical assessment.

Whether it be by face mapping or drilling campaigns, we can help you better understand your deposit and what may lay ahead.

What is included in the service

  1. A literature review of known geological information.
  2. A one (1) day face mapping and field assessment of the quarry.
  3. One (1) day of reporting and updating of the geological model .
  4. Clear recommendations as to how to deal with any geological issues noted.

What is not included (but can be supplied at additional cost)

  1. Exploration drilling program design and supervision.
  2. Geological modelling
  3. Block modelling
  4. Geological work beyond the two days allowed.

Drilling

Best Practice Tip - Geology

Quarries can suffer from a lack of exploration drilling making interpretation of the deposit difficult. In an established operation, a detailed face mapping exercise can often make up for this lack.
